Behind the Scenes: Preparing for 2016-17 By Charlotte Gilder (Assistant Principal)

Have you ever wanted to go behind the scenes of a school?  Ever wondered how and when everything starts to happen in preparation for the next school year?  I’m so glad you are curious!  The wheels are already turning in preparation for the 2016-17 school year!  It takes a lot of brain power, brainstorming and perseverance to ensure that we are ready for another great school year!  One of the MOST important things we do to gear up for the future is surround ourselves with other professionals on the same journey.  This past weekend (April 8-9), Katy ISD hosted a ‘What Great Educators Do Differently’ conference for teachers and school/district leaders at the Leonard Merrell Center.  Mrs. Henderson and I were able to attend (with about 400 other educators) and came back with ideas from nationally recognized presenters that will help make a difference in our school and classrooms.  The conference featured learning in the areas of school culture, educational technology, digital literacy, and much more.

The conference was just the SPARK we needed to end this year strong and ‘dive’ into planning for next year!  We are looking forward to great possibilities as we prepare for 2016-17.

Let’s end this year strong!
