Great First Week!

Thanks to all for a great first week of school! Our students are PAWSOME! We are looking forward to a year full of fun and learning! As "Part of A Winning Team", our students practice the Wolfpack Way each day by ACTING RESPONSIBLY, WORKING HARD and BEING NICE. We saw lots of SUCCESS last week as these principles were discussed, practiced, and put into action! Welcome back to all of our returning students and families! If you are new to TWE, we look forward to getting to know you soon!

Act Responsibly

Our TWE Safety Patrol is a group of student volunteers who help take care of many responsibilities each day. These students open car doors, assist younger students to class, monitor the halls, and take care of raising and taking down the flags each day. We appreciate their leadership as they model the Wolfpack Way by acting responsibly! Give them a big HOWL!!!

The Printer of the Future

Hershey's is printing chocolate, hospitals are printing prosthetics, NASA is printing tools at the space station, and TWE is the first elementary school in KISD to pilot a 3-D printer to explore the possibilities for the future. During professional development week, teacher teams met to brainstorm and plan how they will use the 3-D printer this year to enhance instruction - think printing 3-D plants to label, think printing actual 3-D shapes (cones, spheres, cubes), think printing hearts, lungs, brains to use in science labs and the list goes on. The possibilities are EXCITING! Students will also have the opportunity to make their own designs using Tinkercad and Google Sketch Up. We are looking forward to using our imaginations and new equipment. Thanks to PTA for funding our new 3-D printer!

Rain, Rain Go Away!!!!!

Rain, rain go away is always our chant at dismissal time, but today the rain decided to stay! Our PAWSOME staff and students made the best of a STICKY and WET situation! Thanks to our parents for waiting patiently as we delivered students to your cars on this second day of school! Our school community is the reason we believe we are the best school in the world!!!!

Welcome back for another PACKTASTIC year at Tom Wilson Elementary. We are so excited to be celebrating our "Winning Team" at  TWE. Our staff, students and parents work hard each day to make all possibilities realities! The people in the picture above (from left) are Mr. Tom Wilson (TWE Namesake), Carrie Uberecken (TWE PTA President), Marcy Woodward (TWE Principal's Secretary) and Mrs. Tom Wilson (Super Volunteer). Each one has contributed extraordinarily to our success as a school. TWE is better because they spend much of their time here! We are grateful to have them as integral members of our school community!
