The field trip to the Taste of
Texas restaurant was great! Ms. Hendee
(the owner of the Taste of Texas restaurant) knows a lot about Texas
history! You may even say she is obsessed with Texas history. She has documents of the signatures of Moses
Austin, Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston, and the notorious Santa Ana. She has a replica of a cannon used in the Alamo
and the different flags Texas used to have. If you ever go there, put your
listening ears on. She told us the whole entire story of Texas! She picked volunteers to come up and dress in
funny costumes. One person would act as
a person who settled in Texas because of the empresario (Stephen F. Austin),
and the other person dressed as Davy Crockett.
Maybe they dressed in ridiculous costumes, but they got dessert! Yum!
After Ms. Hendee told the story, we 4th graders got to see
the amazing illusion paintings by Bev Dolittle.
Two illusions were easy to see, but one was pretty hard! That’s not all, though! Before all of that, we got to go inside the
restaurant freezer, 10o below zero!
The last thing we did there at the Taste of Texas restaurant was
lunch. It was delicious - French fries and
chicken strips. The fun was not over yet! After enjoying our time at The Taste of Texas
restaurant, we went to Bear Creek Park!
You have the choice of seeing the animals (tropical birds, emu, and
pigs) or going to play in the park. You’ll end up doing both if you choose the
animals, but you don’t want to miss the cackling cockatoo! You can roll down a small slope with your
friends. The playground has a giant
spider web, slides, swings, and ladder arch.
It has a large field of soft grass.
You don’t want to miss the field trip to The Taste of Texas restaurant
and Bear Creek Park. You’ll have a
pawesome time!
